After snap build comes time to disassemble everything, prime it to look for imperfections and get ready for base colors.
I always snap-build my kits before painting to plan all of my work. This gives me a better understanding of the model and what needs some special care like parts that will come in contact with moving elements, fitting errors, etc.
After testing a couple of different primers: Vallejo Surface Primer, Vallejo Mecha Primer and MR. Finishing Surfacer 1500, I just love the last of the bunch.
Mr. Finishing Surfacer is easy to apply, super smooth and can be sanded if any imperfections are still visible, which is not possible with Vallejo primers.
When priming I always make a first pass through with mist like thin layer followed with full coverage run. It came out nicely and silky smooth 🙂
Since it’s a lacquer based primer it dries in minutes and it’s ready for sanding if needed. This stuff is pure magic and easy to use.
Next step – pre-shading!
