Today is my birthday – I just receive a box from Samuel Decal with first big resin fullkit – NZ-666 Kshatriya Recast from UC/Universal Century in 1/100 scale.
I literally fell in love with this model – like from first sight ;-)! I’m not fan of original Kshatriya, UC Recast model silhouette is more streamlined, the wings are less bulky – and in really like it this way.
I can clearly say that imho, this is the best Kshatriya design of all. I did some research about who stands behind this model, and I failed. I’m between two versions of the story – one is that Mersa Recast did it first, the other is that Universal Century Recast… Anyhow – lets have a look at the box.

The box of Universal Century’s Kshatriya is quite heavy… They’re saying “conversion parts for MG”…. well, there is no such thing…

Lets have a look inside!

Tightly packed – this is what I can say. Some decals, plastic joints, simple manual and A LOT of resin parts, really – A LOT!

The manual is just 3 pages of A4 showcasing basic parts alignment – its nothing that could be compared to Bandai’s quality… Waterslide decals – lets skip this part – I will use other sets – this is just not for me 🙂 Additionally in the box there are some steel and plastics rods and set of joints – nothing super-special…
Lets look at resin parts!

NICE!!! Huge internal leg parts showes a lot of details! Generally parts looks very good, surface isnt crispy, but acceptable when it comes to lines etc.
Other smaller parts are packed with foil – general overview shows many flows of the resin cast, seem lines, and missalignments here and there – but nothing that is not fixable…

At the moment I skipped unpacking of small parts and focused on big ones – YEAH!

In the kit there are optional rear skirt/armour part – nice addition!!! One of those was damaged – a bit of CA glue should do the work.
Lets have a look at binders/wings parts!

Each wing have four major parts, internal structure with nice details and armour/covers – SWEET!!!

General quality is similar to other parts, initial test fitting shows some issues…..

Basically there are no two same-same parts 🙂 each binder is somehow twisted/bent… I don’t have idea (yet) how to approach this issue and how to fix it…

A picture above depicts the issue… binder’s armor parts are completely missaligned…. I can call it as challange accepted…
Generally I like this kit! Price/Quality equation is still on right side.
For sure this model is not for beginners, the build will require a lot of creativity and use of many modeling techniques. Resin quality is quite OK, besides of major misalignment (I still believe its fixable) that could damage general overview – it should be fun build.
I’m totally hyped and will start this project ASAP!!! LETS BUILD THE KSHATRIYA!!!!
