I was planning this design in my head for a while… Finally the time has come to put my thoughts in actions!
My idea was to put fans on a hull level – that would add more depth to vents look and will make fans spins easy without hitting the housings.
As motor below fans are approx 7mm high + 3mm of fan itself – I need to lower the mounts by 1cm. The hull thickness is 2mm, it means that I need to lower mounts by 8mm (yeah – maths rulez) 🙂 First, I put spacers from 4mmPVA in two layers – that will secure necessary space for motor mounts.

Then motor mounts construction started. 2mm PVA did the job well.

I have old collection of old PC screws (IT background is a good thing)… Those fits exactly to the fans motor housings.

Then I put the fans in and one by one secured the mounts to the spacers. Those mounts are not superprecise in terms of “the build hygiene” – it will not be visible, so I didn’t put much attention to that.

Fans in place and aligned 🙂

At this stage I will not glue fans housings – will secure those after painting. But of course I need to give it a try and perform test run.
Yes – it spins!!!
Then the grills were missing.
I don’t have a time today to fit it firmly and glue on – I used tackit on one of the koolshades to test is out and enjoy completed look of detailed vent.

Imho it looks supercool (even its not screen accurate…)!

Time for a spin! It is cool, isn’t it? 🙂
More to come – stay tuned and may the Force be with you!!!
