I started to work on the blue parts of Blaney’s Champion car.
Masking tape was applied based on photo documentation and kit box.
Quick mix of two MrHobby – I used kit decals as a guidance for a color. It looked quite same in my eyes… and sprayed unmasked parts of a body.
The color want waaaay to dark vs original… I was thinking about other scenerios, maybe to pick another livery “Wrangler” would fit… but for sure not the “Dutch Boy”…. Those moments in the modelling hobby.
I left the project for 2 days to define a strategy for the next steps…
Then I found a decission – yes I will repaint it – another masking, another mixing – then I used some online color mixing solution that shows percentage of the colors in the mix (I can’t recall the website it was on) and it helped – it helped a lot!
I was surprised that I need to add some of white and yellow paints to the mix…
Finally I got what I need – its a bit darker still (becouse of underlayer of atrament blue from first attempt), but I like it in sunlight it should be same as the real thing!
*Imperfections – yes – there are some oversprays here and there – I didn’t cared about that much as those areas will be covered by decals.
