The weathering process has begun!
First, I applied a slightly diluted layer of Vallejo Chipping Medium over the upper surfaces of the aircraft, where I expect to see the most wear and tear.

Next came Tamiya XF-4 Zinc Chromate Yellow, applied to the metal surfaces to represent the anti-corrosion primer used on the real aircraft 🙂

Before the paint had fully dried, I used a little water to activate the chipping medium and gently started scratching and lifting the yellow paint, revealing the aluminium layer underneath.

And here’s the tricky part — it’s surprisingly easy to overdo it!
The paint chips away very easily, so you have to be careful not to remove too much. A little patience and control make all the difference.

Still, I’m quite happy with the results so far.
It’s already starting to look like a well-worn Corsair!
