Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair
Sometimes, inspiration works both ways!
Our young Recruits from the Mechaworks Academy pilot program inspired me to start a new project — the legendary Vought F4U Corsair.
With its distinctive inverted gull wings and unmistakable silhouette, the Corsair is one of the most iconic aircraft of World War II.
But this build is about more than just the aircraft. It’s a reminder that scale modeling is about sharing ideas, curiosity, and enthusiasm — regardless of age or experience.
Sometimes, those we teach become the ones who inspire us.
As always, I’m doing my best to raise the bar. This time, I decided to recreate all the rivets, using aircraft drawings scaled down to 1/48:

Then I started to draw rivet lines, all kind of measures and soft pencil helped me very much.

In the meantime, I started to prepare cockpit parts – I used Eduard F4U photoetched set.

Instrument panel sheet wasn’t perfect and required some adjustment.

After initial paint – it started to look ok!
